If you have been keen enough, you may have noticed that DESCO charges extra sudden fees in some months. You may have been wondering. What could be the cause? Well, we’re here to let the cat out of the bag.
What happens is that if you’re a residential prepaid meter user (LT-A), DESCO will charge you 3.75 BDT per unit for the first 50 units monthly. However, if your consumption exceeds 50 units for a particular month, they’ll then charge you 4.19 BDT per unit. This 4.19 BDT per unit charge will last up to 75 units.
From the above analysis, you’ll agree with me that sudden charges normally occur when you exceed 50 units of consumption in a month.
Illustratively, the DESCO prepaid meter charges for LT-A residential users are calculated as follows:
(4.19 – 3.75) x 50 = 22
From the illustration above, we can deduce that DESCO charges about 22 BDT for the first 50 units you consume. But the price is higher whenever you exceed the limit.
So, we can now conclude that DESCO charges LT-A residential consumers sudden fees once they consume more than 50 units in a month.
