How to Generate KCT Code for the Prepaid Meter (Online & Offline)

If you’ve tried loading a token into your prepaid meter but it is not accepting it, then you may need the KCT code to reconfigure it.

When your electricity tariff is changed, you will need to reconfigure your prepaid meter so that it will fit into the new tariff change, supply group, or key revision number. The Key Control Token (KCT) does the reconfiguration.

Apart from meter reconfiguration, the KCT code is also needed during meter upgrades. The KCT code is a set of two 20-digit numbers that is used to reset the meter to its default. It comes in two different forms: KCT1 and KCT2.

Although the code resembles a recharge token, they are entirely different and function differently too. So, to reset your meter after tariff change, you will need the KCT code

Generating the KCT code is pretty easy since it can be generated online or offline, depending on your disco. Some electricity providers in the country allow users to generate the code online, while others may require users to visit their outlet in person.

KCT Code stands for Key Control Token Code. It is a unique set of two 20-digit numbers that is generated to return your meter to default whenever you change your tariff plan and your meter rejects tokens continuously.

The KCT serves as a key to reset your prepaid meter once you change your tariff plan. In some instances, if you change your electricity tariff plan, your meter may not accept the token when you want to recharge it until you input the KCT code.

The KCT comes in two different forms, which are KCT1 and KCT2. When entering the code into the meter, prepaid meter users are expected to input the KCT1 before entering the KCT2 into the meter.
