2. Space Heaters

Hence, due to their high energy consumption, it is best to use space heaters only when they are important. And after using it, it should be disconnected immediately to avoid wasting energy.

3. Water Heaters

As a sequel to that, using water heaters regularly will definitely lead to lots of energy consumption. So, it is important for you to use them only when they are needed to reduce energy consumption. 

4. Refrigerators and Freezers

Using 6.9% of a home’s energy, refrigerators and freezers are among the appliances that consume the most electricity. While they are indispensable in our daily lives, these appliances should be used appropriately to reduce energy consumption. 

As a user, you can use them to preserve your foods and other valuables. However, once your foods are frozen, you can turn them off to reduce their energy consumption. Meanwhile, you shouldn’t turn the refrigerator on when you don’t need it. 

5. Lighting

Lightning uses about 4.4% of the home’s energy. Although we all know that lighting is important in our homes, it should be used efficiently by adopting energy-conserving behaviours.

To reduce energy consumption from lighting sources, you should use energy-conserving bulbs like LED. Also, electricity consumers should adopt energy-efficient behaviours like switching off the bulb when not in use or when leaving the house.

6. Television and related equipment

Another appliance that consumes a lot of energy is television and other related equipment. Data from the  U.S. Energy Information Administration revealed that television and related equipment consume about 3.5% of a home’s electricity.

So, when you don’t need these appliances, there is no need to switch them on to enable you to conserve energy.

7. Computers and Related Equipment

Using 2.3% of a home’s total energy, computers and related equipment are another energy-consuming appliance. Although their energy consumption won’t be compared with the above-mentioned appliances, they should also be handled with care to reduce their energy consumption rate, which will definitely be safe.
