How to Clear Tamper Mode on Prepaid Meter

A prepaid meter tamper mode is a security measure. Meter manufacturers normally integrate it into the meter to protect it against unauthorized access.

It is designed to detect and respond to suspicious activities or tampering attempts, like bypassing the meter, manipulating its components, or attempting to tamper with the meter’s settings. Whenever the meter notices any of these manipulative activities, it will quickly enter tamper mode as a safeguarding measure. Apart from the above-mentioned cases, the tamper mode may also be triggered if there is an abnormal power surge or communication error within the meter.

Once a prepaid meter enters tamper mode, it will stop supplying electricity, leading to a blackout even when there is still sufficient credit.
